Report: The Cologne Seminar

From October 13th to 15th, 2024, JKA/WF Belarus was honored to be represented by Chief Instructor Dmitry Osika at a seminar held by JKA Cologne, led by Martin Buchstaller, 6th Dan, founder of the Karate@Home initiative. This intensive seminar brought together a dedicated group of black belts from eight German cities as well as Belgium, fostering a strong international presence and a deep commitment to traditional karate. Over the course of nine training sessions, participants engaged with a wide range of topics central to JKA practice. Key themes included: JKA Principles in Kihon: Participants explored foundational JKA principles that emphasize structure, form, and the mechanics behind powerful technique generation. Differences in Kata Demonstration: The seminar addressed stylistic differences in kata demonstration between JKA and other karate traditions, highlighting the unique technical nuances and philosophies within JKA.
